Glassblowing Bowl Making Class

Learn about glass blowing and make your own bowl from scratch.

In this workshop, you’ll create more than just a handblown glass bowl — whether it becomes a resting place for treasured jewellery, a dish to share olives and nibbles with friends, or simply an object that catches the light by your front door, your bowl will be both functional and uniquely yours. 

Before beginning the bowl, you’ll start the class by making a solid glass paperweight — the perfect introduction to gathering molten glass, adding colour, and shaping with traditional tools. Drawing on years of teaching experience, Molten 1090 uses this stage to help beginners build confidence and familiarity with the material, a step that regularly features in our classes. Then you will move on to your second piece, the bowl! Choosing from a variety of colours and guided step by step by our skilled makers, you’ll learn how to inflate molten glass, shape and control its form, and finish it into something to treasure at home.

This four hour workshop is ideal for first-timers and those with a little experience and is designed to be hands-on, allowing each participant to deepen skills while making two unique creations: a paperweight and a handblown bowl to cherish. All participants must be 18 years or older to take part in a workshop.
